The air-fryer field guide

Air fryers with a dehydrate function

Only models explicitly listing dehydrate qualify. Check minimum temperature and rack layout for the food you intend to dry.

Inclusion criteria: Only models explicitly listing dehydrate qualify. Check minimum temperature and rack layout for the food you intend to dry. These criteria apply to our documented US catalog; unverified fields do not qualify a model.

Require the function, then compare the drying arrangement

COSORI TurboBlaze lists Dehydrate in a six-quart drawer. Ninja AF141 also lists Dehydrate in a five-quart drawer. Breville BOV900 Pro lists Dehydrate in an oven-style cavity, potentially a better arrangement when you use racks and trays. Those are manufacturer function lists, not a verified comparison of drying speed, uniformity or food quality.

A food-drying plan needs the exact minimum temperature, permitted rack levels, airflow path and batch area. Some catalog records lack those specifications; a listed Dehydrate mode alone does not establish that a particular preservation process is suitable. Follow the model manual and authoritative food-safety guidance for foods where drying conditions matter.

Choose by area and cleanup rather than mode count

A drawer limits one layer to its basket base; an oven-style rack can change tray handling and cleanup. Breville BOV900 is much wider at 21.4 inches than Ninja AF141’s documented 11.34 inches, so the larger oven format demands a different counter envelope. TurboBlaze’s exterior dimensions are unresolved here, preventing a strict fit comparison.

The TurboBlaze record identifies dishwasher-safe basket and crisper plate; BOV900’s official manual gives separate accessory care directions. Ask whether the amount you dry and the time you are willing to run batches justify the larger cavity. Do not infer lower electricity cost from watts alone; use measured kWh or your editable rated-power estimate.

Make the final choice

Start with your meals: the footprint of a main and side, different temperatures and your willingness to cook more than one batch. Then compare usable counter space, component-cleaning instructions and the official manual.

Price and measured cooking performance are not inputs to this shortlist. Unknown materials, opening envelopes and usable basket area stay unknown. A missing fact is a reason to check that requirement, rather than assume every model is equally suitable.
